Public Defender of Rights of the Czech Republic Ana Šabatova and her associates met on 23-24 May 2016 in Zagreb with the Ombudswoman Lora Vidović. Ombudswoman Vidović familiarized the guests with the work of the Office, its mandates as well as the main points of the 2015 annual report. The guests met with the Deputy Ombudspersons and the advisors to the Ombudswoman to discuss particular issues falling within the mandates of the Office's departments, the manner in which the complaints submitted to the Office are handled, as well as the similarities and differences in the work of the two institutions.

National human rights institutions (NHRIs) play a key role in the protection of the human rights of the citizens. In the performance of their work they ought to exercise a proactive approach and be present on the ground in order to be able to build a comprehensive picture of the state of human rights in their respective countries. This was the joint conclusion of the Ombudswoman of the Republic of Croatia and ENNHRI Chair Lora Vidović and UN Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights Kate Gilmore at the meeting held on 21 June 2016 in Vienna as part of the Fundamental Rights Forum.
The two officials highlighted the importance of the established standards of work of the NHRIs and emphasized the need to keep maintaining and developing the UN accreditation system.

Croatian Ombudswoman and Chair of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) Lora Vidović is participating on 13-17 June 2016 in a series of meetings with the heads of other regional networks of human rights institutions at the UN headquarters in New York. The aim of the meetings is to further strengthen the cooperation between the regional networks as well as their cooperation with the organizers of the meeting – their umbrella organization, the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the Office of the UN's High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) - in the protection and the promotion of human rights.

In the first part of the program Moggens Lykketoft, the president of the UN’s General Assembly, chaired the panel on the UN sustainable development goals in the context of the promotion and protection of the rights of persons with disabilities. The program’s agenda also included a meeting with the UN's Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Šimonović as well as a series of bilateral meetings.
